    FAQs for Students and Parents

Firstly, start by completing our private tutor request form https://jukututoring.teachworks.com/form/new-student. You will then be emailed our terms and conditions. Once you have replied to the email and confirmed you “would like to proceed” we will then allocate you with a suitable tutor (along with their profile). Your allocated tutor will then contact you to arrange the first session and your lessons will be managed using our Teachworks interactive calendar. You will then be invoiced monthly based on all the “Attended” lessons. Click here to watch our introductory video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psPqE3gayqY.
Our mission is simple: to provide professional, engaging and enthusiastic in-person and online primary school, high school, HSC, SACE, BSSS, QCE, TASC, WACE & VCE tutors to students, while also ensuring our students feel empowered and confident during their assessments! Our tutors are all about inciting a greater level of inquisitiveness and independence in our students to ensure they can complete their own assessments independently. Ultimately, our goal is to empower students all over Australia to achieve amazing results and achieve their full potential! We practice what we preach and we have proudly published an educational book “Your Best Score” www.yourbestcore.com.au which is available in all good bookstores Australia wide! Your Best Score includes invaluable advice from top-scoring Year 12 graduates in a range of subjects. Learn from the best, to achieve your best! In addition, all of our tutors are matched with students not only on study score but also on interests and suitability. We believe it’s important that the student and tutor have a good social rapport, as this is what fosters a comfortable environment in which the student can ask the tutor questions. All Juku tutors are also trained and verified for your benefit. Our tutors are about getting great results. Getting results for the student is directly related to the tutor’s content knowledge (their study score), their ability to communicate effectively, and their ability to build a relationship with the student founded on trust and interests. Being a great tutor is not only about the study score, but how well the tutor interacts and engages with the student.
Tutoring presents many benefits and advantages to both students and parents. Over the years we have found that students request tutoring because of two possible reasons. 1) They are struggling in class and can’t keep up with the work and/or teacher. 2) They are already getting very good results in class, but want to attain a competitive edge. Our tutors attend the lessons with the intent of encouraging our students to think for themselves and to feel confident during their assessments. During your first lesson, the tutor will aim to get to know you, including your personality, your learning style, your interests and aspirations. They will then tailor their lessons according to your requirements. If you are unsure about what your requirements are, then make sure you advise the tutor and he/she will aim to work this out for you. Your allocated tutor will work with both parents and the student to tailor your sessions accordingly. This will involve working on the students’ allocated homework and if there are any learning gaps our tutors will provide additional resources that are publicly available as well as their own notes/questions/exams to help our students bridge these gaps and achieve their full potential. Ultimately, the lessons will be conducted with your end goal in sight, which is why it’s generally a good idea to have a study score or ATAR goal in mind before commencing lessons.
Once you fill out the contact form https://jukututoring.teachworks.com/form/new-student on our website you will receive an email stating the terms and conditions.
All Juku tutors are knowledgeable in their respective fields and have the study score to back up their knowledge and expertise. Each of our tutors has perfected their subject and have a wealth of knowledge to pass on to our students!
All our tutor’s credentials (their study scores) are verified by Juku Tutoring against online databases, which are publicly available. We also ensure that all tutors have a valid Working With Children Check, which ensures that adults can work with minors. If tutors do not satisfy these two minimal requirements, then they are not considered for positions. All Juku tutors are trained and verified for your benefit!
Our tutors are handpicked based on their study score, ability to be trained, commitment and work ethic, and their availability and punctuality.
Great question! Generally, tutors can meet students at a public library, school, online or at either the tutor or student’s house.
You are never committed to any tutor for any period of time. If you’re no longer happy with your allocated tutor please contact info@juku.com.au so we can arrange a suitable tutor replacement.
All of our tutors also offer “Online” tutoring for long-distance students or those who can’t find a local tutor! The main benefit of “Online” is that you’ll be able to be matched with a larger pool of talented tutors which has ultimately ensured a better service delivery and outcome for our students.
Tutors are matched with students based on a variety of factors: Distance to the student’s home or vice versa, the tutor’s study score, the tutor’s experience, the tutor’s individual hobbies and interests, the student’s learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), the student’s academic ability in the given subject, level of social rapport between the student and tutor, our tutors are about getting great results. You will be charged for each session, if you aren’t happy with your allocated tutor, just let us know and we will find a suitable replacement for you. You can cancel at any time, but will be charged for any tutoring session “Attended”.
As often as you need. This is completely up to you and your preferred Juku Tutor to arrange. Based on our experience, in order to maximise academic results, we recommend 1-2 sessions of tutoring a week at a minimum. “SUCCESS DOESN’T COME FROM WHAT YOU DO OCCASIONALLY. IT COMES FROM WHAT YOU DO CONSISTENTLY.”
Once a lesson (either “Online” or “In-Person”) has been arranged, Juku Tutoring, acting as the Agent of the tutor, considers this booking to be final, subject to this cancellation policy. That is, the student agrees to pay for the arranged lesson. Note that if a lesson is cancelled for any reason, the student must notify the tutor immediately.

Juku Tutoring has a reliability policy in place to ensure that all tutors and students are treated fairly. This reliability policy aims to eradicate the issue of tutors leaving their students either after the first lesson with a new student, or after a few lessons, or after a large number of lessons: without a truly valid reason. Being ‘busy with exams’ or ‘having too much on your plate’ is not a valid excuse for leaving a student at such short notice. When a tutor begins with a student, this is a commitment to their success in their studies. Reliability Policy – Juku Tutoring. If you can’t take on a student for the medium to long term, then you must not accept the request from the student. If in the case a valid reason occurs such as severe personal issues, or extended period of absence (such as an exchange) or increased pressures from the study, then the tutor must supply a notice period of at least 2 weeks via email to info@juku.com.au and continue tutoring in the meantime. In return for your good work with your student, Juku Tutoring can provide you with a positive professional reference to future employers. This however will only be granted based on your performance with your student(s). Juku Tutoring has a reliability policy in place to ensure that all tutors and students are treated fairly. This reliability policy aims to eradicate the issue of tutors leaving their students either after the first lesson with a new student, or after a few lessons, or after many lessons: without a truly valid reason. Being ‘busy with exams’ or ‘having too much on your plate’ is not a valid excuse for leaving a student at such short notice. When a tutor begins with a student, this is a commitment to their success in their studies. When a tutor begins tutoring a student, this is a commitment to their success, and so the tutor must be aware of their own capabilities and should they doubt their ability to take on a student, then this must be verbalised to Juku Tutoring before taking on the student. However, it must be noted that Juku Tutoring strictly requires tutors to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week. This awareness of capabilities will ensure that Juku Tutoring can find a suitable tutor for them before the commencement of the first lesson. In rare circumstances, we will accept an immediate termination of lessons (so lessons can halt immediately), but this must be verbalised to Juku Tutoring first with a valid reason for termination. Finally, with respect to the mode of tutoring (either in-person or online), if you wish to switch modes (e.g. from in-person to online lessons), or if a student wishes to switch modes of tutoring, then both parties (student and tutor) must agree to such a transition. A forced transition of tutoring mode must not be imposed on the student without their consent. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
